Call for Abstracts

Western Forum for Migrant and Community Health

Northwest Regional Primary Care Association invites you to submit an abstract for consideration to present at the Western Forum for Migrant and Community Health.


General Information: The 2017 Western Forum for Migrant and Community Health,to be held in San Francisco CA, February 22-24, provides education and training, information and resource sharing, coalition building, and program and policy development for like-minded community health professionals and their partners.


Submission Deadline: Friday, September 30, 2016. Any abstracts submitted after Friday, September 30, 2016 may not be reviewed.


Abstract Notification: Notifications of selected abstracts will be sent, via email, in early November. If multiple presenters are listed, only the individual submitting the abstract (the primary presenter) will be notified.


Abstract Selection: Abstracts are peer-reviewed on the basis of quality and clarity of the content, subject relevance (see relevant topics below), and strength of learning objectives. NWRPCA prioritizes presentations that are interactive and participatory. Abstracts should explain specific activities, methods or techniques that will be used to encourage participation in the session as well as any take home messages and/or tools that will be made available to participants. Support for creating interactive and participatory presentations will be provided to presenters.


Relevant Topics:   Abstracts should examine current programs, practices, and/or policies related to addressing disparities in health and health care experienced by farmworkers and other vulnerable populations in one of four tracks (or thematic areas):

* NWRPCA welcomes and encourages abstracts that are relevant to community health workers (CHWs), including promotoras/es de salud, outreach workers, community health advisors, peer health educators, and other frontline lay health workers. Presentations related to the CHW workforce should include CHWs as presenters and/or have CHWs involved in the creation of the abstract and presentation. Abstracts pertaining to the CHW workforce should describe within the text of the abstract whether CHWs will be presenting and/or the role CHWs played in the development of the abstract and presentation.
